Spring in Oregon

Most places in the US have a very weird version of spring. There is very little sun and the whole rhyme “April showers bring May flowers” is mostly wrong; especially in Oregon. Sure we have a lot of things blooming right now (which I am grateful for) but the rain is beating down as I type this. In mid-May, we have had a couple of really amazing days with sun and heat and I even already had my first sunburn of the season! But we have had far more rainy, cold, and incredibly gloomy days than we have sunny days. When we took these photos, the day started out as sunny and 70, but by the time we actually got to out location it had disintegrated into insane chilly winds and rain. All within about 20 minutes. Please disregard how pale I am and how reflective I am. I attempted some photo editing magic that really just made me look insane so I went with all-natural, which is very reflective.

The flyaways in this photo are ridiculous. But hey, I’m a real person and have real fly aways

This is a favorite in-between season outfit of mine. Once things get even warmer I tend to opt for a platform sandal instead of the docs, but they add a fun touch. My glittery doc martens were a gift two years ago for my birthday and I love them. I wear them all winter long and I often miss them in the summer, so why not add them to my summer wardrobe?

This button-up is a closet staple that everyone needs to have. Not this color maybe, but a good linen button-up is a great piece to have since you can dress it up and make it professional, or if you’re like me you can pair it with some cut-offs, docs, and dark lipstick I managed to forge to wear for the shoot.

I keep making plans and daydreaming about moving near the ocean and the sun and being warm all the time. But the only thing I think I will miss one day when I can finally accomplish this goal is the sound of the rain. As much as it drives me nuts to live in it from October till June, I will miss falling asleep to the sound of rain and curling up in a blanket to watch movies while it thunders down outside. The good news is it will be a while before I can move so I have another cycle of this to soak in all the soothing sound before I move on.
