Vacation Style

It is with a sad heart that I write this from my bed back on the mainland, and not on the lovely lanai (porch) in Maui where I was lucky to stay for 10 days. Not that Oregon isn’t wonderful of course, but just look at these views and tell me you wouldn’t be bummed to leave here too! This is the first in a series of posts from my amazing trip to Maui, as well as the onslaught of photos on my Instagram (@mermaidmadey) and a couple of vlogs up on my Tik Tok. Truly, nothing can beat this amazing island.

The first of the Maui travel posts is a pretty typical fashion post. I wore so many different dresses and sandal combinations that I will be sharing over time, but this was one of my absolute favorites of the trip!

This is a lovely addition to my closet this summer. I am not usually one for maxi dresses since they tend to fit me oddly, but this one worked out way better than I thought it would, especially given the figure-hugging nature of it. It is double-lined so you never have to worry about the sun hitting you the wrong way and telling all your secrets, and even though it is very tight, it’s not hard to walk in! Ideally, I would have loved to pair this with a kitten heel in a color of one of the flowers on the dress, but by the time this occurred to me, it was too late to shop for it. But I will be finding them so stay tuned!

Overall this dress is perfect for summer, not just vacation, and can be effortless and casual for a mellow night, or dressed up for a happy hour and a nicer dinner. A versatile piece like this is what summer is all about and in my humble opinion, the best way to dress.

While I have worn these shoes on here before, and they are very basic, they are the perfect basic summer sandal. You all know how much I love my Doc Marten sandals, but it never hurts to have a more dainty and minimal option on hand as well. I wore these several nights in Maui and I am so glad I brought them for our more dressy dinners while we were there. My lovely little bucket bag was not the star of this outfit, but it is still linked down below and is still one of my absolute favorites.

More Maui coming Wednesday so I can hopefully get back on track with my blog posting schedule so stay tuned for that!
