Autumn Florals
I am so happy with these photos and how this whole shoot turned out. Really, even though I decided to do this on a day that was way too cold for this particular styling, I love how moody and Practical Magic the vibes ended up being. That’s what initially drew me to this dress: it looked like something Sally Owens would wear in her botanical shop. And prancing around in the park with a drizzle of rain was the perfect way to shoot this dress.
I don’t remember how I stumbled across Rumored, but now that I have I cannot stop shopping the site. They make the best quality and the cutest pieces that are all very classic styles you can wear as long as you please. They do a great job of mixing vintage-style pieces with things more on trend, and I can not recommend them enough. This dress screamed 90’s florals to me and I couldn’t not purchase it once I saw it. In the winter I can wear it with tights and sweaters and boots, and in the summer I can wear it with my lace-up doc sandals and feel just as badass.
As much as I like to think I have my own style and never deviate from it, college really took a lot of my sense of style away from me. Mostly because I was so exhausted and didn’t have the energy to always put together an actual outfit. But also because I had this idea that certain clothes were going to be off-limits for me because I was “too old”. Which is just ridiculous and now I am even older and find myself gravitating back towards some styles I loved in high school and should have just kept wearing. While I love my new love for more whimsical styles, and my ability to embrace the more girly side of my style, I do miss the more edgy, slightly grunge, vintage, 90’s vibes I so loved when I was a teen. And this dress is the thing that reminded me of that style, that I love it, and to look for more pieces I can incorporate into my wardrobe to wear more.
