Casual Sunday
One of my favorite brands to have ever emerged on this earth is Free People. The first “adult” purchase I made the summer after high school was a fringe bag I got from Free People that I still have today. I planned and saved my tips for it so I could afford it and from that point on I was hooked. Now there are definitely pieces on the site that are far out of my price range, and I often do have to plan out my purchase there, but every piece I have ever gotten has been good quality and has lasted so long. Every piece I have gotten from them from that summer until now is still hanging in my closet and gets worn often. This top is no different and is a new favorite of mine!
I got this top as a gift, and it was originally meant to be something I could wear to the office and then also out about in the world. Even after I lost my job, this has been a favorite of mine to dress up the casual jeans and tee look, especially since it’s still chilly up here in Oregon. The slight bell sleeve, the seam detailing, and the mismatched stripes give it a little extra something when paired with any favorite jeans. It can easily be dressed up for work or day to night style look. I also think it would look great under a black spaghetti strap dress or jumpsuit!
I’ve worn these jeans and boots 1 million times on this blog and will continue to wear them and love them, but I do not need to bore you over why I love them so much once again (haha). But I will say that the deeper I dive into the blogging/content creation/ influencer world, the more I see how often creators wear a piece once for the photo and then you never see it on them again. While I understand that this is part of the job, I think it’s important to re-wear your favorite pieces, and only agree to work with brands that you will actually wear their clothes. I have started to see a new niche of “eco influencers” crop up where they only do partnerships with eco-friendly brands and don’t do hauls and what not which is probably the future of influencing as the world continues to change. It is also great to utilize things like Poshmark and Depop to give your clothes a new life, or take them to a women’s shelter where your clothes will definitely get a second life and be well-loved!
