Girly Grunge

Welcome back, friends! Apologies for not getting this one up yesterday, but since I still have a day job, that one took priority. But! I am here with a fun fashion spread for you all today, especially after the slightly heavier post on Monday. It’s all about balance right?

So for this post….I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I am so proud of this shoot! I am really starting to get the hang of shooting on my own with just me and my tripod, and getting so much more used to shooting with my tripod in public. It’s really very freeing to just do what you want and like to do even if people look at you weirdly for it! It also doesn’t hurt to have amazing sunlight in your photos. Alright, enough rambling let’s jump in!

When it comes to summer style, I typically roll with a “less is more” attitude. I wear tiny tops and denim shorts, and I live in sundresses and rompers. But, as I get more into fashion and style in general, it’s fun to mix it up a little and play with silhouettes I maybe wouldn’t normally. When I was in high school, I was way more adventurous with what I would wear and how I would style things, but for some reason, as I got older I got more concerned about how others would view what I was wearing. Over the last couple of months though, I have been collecting items I love even if other people wouldn’t like them so much. A huge part of my love for fashion is styling and coming up with outfits and looks! So this summer we are getting back into it, and let what other people think be damned!

One of the first things on my journey back to “who cares what others think” was the neon platform Converse! Some say they are green, others say yellow, I say it falls somewhere in the middle, but either way, they are amazing! I have been into the platform thing for quite a while, so I am very happy that the fashion industry is catching up. When I got them I figured they would be hard to style, but turns out they have been so easy and fun to work into outfits! With colors like these, a lot of us tend to get overwhelmed but they match neutrals and basic colors so well and add the perfect pop of color to any outfit. Like with this one; there are green in the leaves on my t-shirt and even though they are very different shaded, they compliment each other nicely.

The other part of this outfit is the oversized tee and the boyfriend jeans. Typically, I have worn a tight top with the baggier jeans, and skinny jeans or leggings with the more oversized tops, but this is my new favorite combo! Since I am more petite in stature, I have always been concerned I will look too big or like my clothes are swallowing me up, but A) who cares if you’re comfortable like that, and B) it actually doesn’t look like I am being by my clothes. While I definitely do still love a cropped and fitted moment, this more 90s, slightly grungey styling was so much fun to wear! And I was super comfy. I tend to like a slightly more undone look anyway, which I usually achieve with my hair, but this was so fun to not only have the messy space buns but also to have the more undone outfit as well! I will probably style this shirt a million different ways as summer goes on so please stay tuned for all the ways I can’t wait to make this tee work.

Thank you so much for coming along with me today! Stay tuned for more posts, more videos, and maybe even some new branding??? Who knows! See you all on my YouTube tomorrow!
