What to do for Your Covid Valentines Day (Single or Not)
Quick housekeeping at the top! I have changed my posting schedule so I can be more consistent and more productive! So starting next week I will be doing blog posts every Monday and Wednesday, and then posting a new YouTube video every Friday. I will be posting on social media throughout the week as per usual without a schedule so be sure to follow me on Instagram (@mermaidmadey) to stay up to date and also to just watch me be a dork, because who doesn’t love that? Ok on to the real reason for this post!
This time last year, Covid was a vague little whisper we all naively thought would never make it to the states. On Valentines Day everyone was still able to go out for dinner, go out to the bars with friends, or stay home and watch movies (which at this point no one ever wants to do again). But this is the first Covid Valentines, and while I do hope it is the last, I wanted to put together a massive post of Valentines Day activities you can do in a relationship or single, with friends or by yourself, and then maybe come back to this post to pull other general date ideas as we all stay in relative self-quarantine. Just because everything is closed and we can’t really leave our homes doesn’t mean you can’t keep the spark alive! Keep scrolling to see my list of ideas for covid Valentine’s Day, whether you’re single or not!
Lingerie- This is a fun one whether you have someone to show it off to or not. Lingerie is so fun to wear and can up your confidence so much. There are so many good sales going on that if you purchase now it will be here in time for the 14th! Wear it for yourself to elevate your mood, or wear it for your significant other (S.O) to spice things up a little for the night. Lingerie is also just fun for when you are dreading going to work or running errands as something sexy to have on underneath your leggings! Makes life feel a little more fun. Plus it is a good excuse to treat yourself to something a little fancy you maybe normally wouldn't! Here are some sets I am loving right now, and all of the ones from Nasty Gal are currently on sale!
Get takeout and have a picnic (or movie night)- Most towns and cities do not have dine-in options available because of the pandemic, but they are all still doing take out! So if you had your heart set on a romantic dinner with your S.O, or treating yourself to something delicious you wouldn’t normally splurge on, grab takeout and go have a picnic if it’s warm or at least not raining! If the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor dining, then setting up a picnic on your living room floor can also be a fun way to change things up and feel it more like a date night or a fun night instead of just another night at your apartment. If you want it to feel more romantic, don’t watch a movie or tv, light some candles, and really dress it up to make it feel like a restaurant!
Make a fancy meal (or favorite meal)- Takeout can be expensive or just not what you want that night, and cooking something new and exciting, or an old favorite is another great option. It can be fun to cook with a friend, jam out to music or a podcast, and cook alone, or it can be a romantic thing to do with your S.O! Nothing will bond you more than cooking with someone else. If you are stuck, or simply want to make something new, I recommend a quick Pinterest search! They always have the best ideas when it comes to food, and have recipes that you can do at any level.
V-Day cocktails- If you are already trying to make this night something different than all the other nights we have had in quarantine, I suggest making some Valentine’s Day inspired cocktails! While I am an amateur mixologist at best, it still can be so fun to make things that are holiday-inspired, or just make some new drinks to test out! I listed a few cocktails out below that sounded good to me, and I will be making some soon so follow me on Instagram to see how that goes!
Fun movies to watch- This one can be done with your S.O or with friends or on your own as well! I know we have all been watching movies and tv shows for the last year while stuck in the house, but I’ve grabbed a few fun and romantic movies to watch! If romance isn’t the vibe for you this Valentine’s Day, I suggest a Starwars marathon, a Marvel marathon, or a Harry Potter marathon!

Once again since we are in a pandemic, you can never have too many comfy outfits to work from home in. I have linked a few of my favorites below, so grab yourself something new to cozy up in!
