Farewell, Red Boots

Today is a sad day because today I am posting my last shoot with my beloved red Dr. Marten boots. These are the boots I have written many a blog post about, they have been prominently featured on all of my social media, and these boots have been with me for 6 years. These were the first pair of docs I bought on my own, and I drug my sister an hour and a half to the mall to purchase them. Up until I put them on to do this shoot, they were my go-to shoes even in the summer which is probably why they are starting to rip and get holes in them. Luckily, I do work for a shoe store where I can get a new pair of deeper red patent leather boots for a lesser cost, but this color of red is sold out and no longer in production. I have plans to turn my beloved boots into little planters so I can grow some flowers out of them and give them a new life! Without further ado, here is my last shoot with my beloved, red, boots.

I am most likely going to be cold if it is below 70 degrees. I wish it weren’t so, but it does mean that I have created quite a great hoodie collection, and this is just my newest acquisition. It is from my favorite online boutique, Dressed in Lala! It is super soft, very cozy, but so effortlessly stylish that it will make the perfect staple this fall and winter. Plus, summer in Oregon means as soon as the sun goes down, so does the heat so a casual hoodie to toss on is crucial to have at all times. Not like we get to be outside socializing anymore, but hey never hurts to have around.

I wear my docs with skirts, dresses, and shorts all summer long, as you can see in these photos. My red boots are no exception. I wear these guys all winter long, and then once it gets warm I pop them on with a black dress or some shorts and am ready to go! Losing these guys as my go-to shoes are going to be such a pain and a bummer, but getting new boots is never a bad thing, plus I have gained two new flower pots.

While I have loved my life every minute in these boots, it is time to accept that we have to move on sometimes. It feels weird to use my boots as an analogy for the next phase of my life, it does make sense. I bought them in high school and it only seems fitting that they would break after I graduated from college. Onto bigger and better things (and some boots without holes).
