Halloween High Jinx
Welcome to this bonus post of a little Halloween fun! I know it’s after Halloween, but I wanted to show you all the process and finished products behind our costumes! We worked on them for quite a while and I think they turned out pretty great( If I do say so myself). Enjoy!
First, we have the inspiration. Kevin saw the new Joker movie and immediately wanted to veto any other costume ideas we had in the works. We decided on the Joker and Harley Quinn and each went non-traditional with it. The above photo is a great example of the look he was going for. It’s a screengrab from the movie that perfectly shows the iconic suit, the green hair, and the runny makeup.
The results were pretty amazing! We died his hair green with a little Punky Color, found some makeup at Halloween Spirit, and viola! You have a Joker who received so many compliments and so many photos for how great he looked that it was nearly impossible to move around the bars without someone stopping us to say how amazing he looks. Halloween is not a contest, but if it was, Kevin would have won.
Now for Harley Quinn! Dressing up as Harley Quinn can get very stereotypical very quickly. It can also be a very naked costume if you catch my drift. If that is your thing and you feel confident, go for it! But it certainly made me uncomfortable. Hours of Pinterest searching later, I finally found my version of Harley Quinn.
This was the inspiration behind the look I ended up doing. I loved the flapper girl style she has here and it went well with the version of the Joker Kevin wanted to do. Plus, it was still a sexy costume choice, but more in my comfort level.
I used all my makeup for this since it was mostly just a glam look she was wearing and got some spray in hair dye from the Spirit of Halloween! It was easy to layer so I didn’t freeze when we went out (still did a little but it was 32 degrees) and even could pair it with docs so I didn’t have to wear heels out!
